Directions to Merlins.....
From London - We recommend you travel west along the M4 (passing Cardiff
and Bridgend) until you reach junction 45. Then, head north on the
A4067 sign-posted Dan Yr Ogof Caves/Ystradgynlais. After approx. 10
miles and just after a roundabout, you will see a right turn sign-posted
for Ystradgynlais. Take this turn. You will see a rugby field on your
right and workshops and industrial units to your left. At the mini-roundabout,
turn left. You will follow the road over a river bridge and passed
a park. Turn left directly after the zebra crossing at the end of
the street. You are now in Commercial Street. Merlin’s is 200m down
on the right (No.’s 44-46 Commercial Street, Ystradgynlais).
From Birmingham – Travel south on the M5. Leave the
M5 at junction 8 and travel into Wales on the M50. At the end of
the M50, take the A40 (direction Monmouth/ Newport). Go passed Monmouth
(5miles) and turn West on the A465 (direction South Wales/ Abergavenny).
This is the ‘Heads of the Valleys’ road. Follow the A465 for the
next 35 miles (approx.) until you pass Aberdare and Hirwaun shortly
after you will see signs for Dan yr Ogof Caves and a Neath &
Port Talbot B C sign. Take the next exit sign-posted Glynneath,
Onllwyn and Dan yr Ogof caves. Carry straight on across the traffic
lights on the A4109. Follow this road for approx 8 miles until the
road runs downhill to a T junction. Take a left at this junction
following the signs for Swansea. Go straight across the mini roundabouts
(garage on your left) still heading for Swansea until you come to
traffic lights. Turn left here and stay on this road, you will go
over a bridge and Merlin’s is about 50m along on the left.
